ADIRÈE today announces the upcoming showcase of YEFIKIR DESIGN (http://www.yefikirdesign.com/ ) during its sixth annual Africa Fashion Week, (www.AfricaFashionWeek.com) under the activation New York Fashion Week: Africa on Friday, September 11, 2015.
Ethiopian Designer and Psychologist Fikirte Addis is the face behind Yefikir Design that will showcase once again on the New York stage. Yefikir is inspired by both the designer’s passion for children and fashion as she uses her designs to reach out to disadvantaged children. Addis’s pieces are wearable during any occasion: ranging from casual to wedding dresses and traditional to modern day styles. Addis is motivated to come to the New York stage through her desire to reach consumers globally and create partnerships to promote Africa’s textile and clothing industries.
Reflecting her culture though Addis’s designs is just one step towards the bigger picture. Addis states “It is important for me not to lose the connection I have with my culture, just giving it a modern twist and bringing it to the international fashion arena.”
