African fashion ranges across a huge spectrum and has spread all over the globe. There are designers that have already achieved enormous success worldwide, and there are designers using African culture as inspiration who work on a much smaller scale. For those who are not familiar with Etsy.com it is a marketplace for handmade goods where people can come to buy and sell and share their craft. Something unique about Etsy that I also enjoy is that it is changing the way the global economy works by connecting small business owners from across the globe. Some may hear this and think it is just your grandmother’s craft sale, but you couldn’t be more wrong. There are a few AFWNY designers that even utilized Etsy to gain notoriety for their designs. There are all types of goods sold on Etsy, but one of my favorite sections has always been the jewelry section. I found this African inspired necklace by a designer named Nedjma Bazaar sifting through the thousand of listings on Etsy and I really love the red accents and wooden bead work. I strongly advise that you give Etsy a try and go check out what treasures you can find there.
