A talented duo of self-taught design savvy sisters are bringing their take on the fashion world to the runway with Aso Damisi. Moriamo and Latifat (the design duo) have recently launched their Spring/Summer 2012 collection and have created a line for women who are not afraid to step out in something vibrant and eye-catching. The designers even pay homage to their West African roots in the name of the line: “Aso” means cloth or clothing and “Damisi” means prosperity in Yoruba. Inspiration for the line came from the desire to share an important part of ethnic culture mixed with contemporary silhouettes with the mainstream. In return, the women behind Aso Damisi wish to inspire the women who wear their clothing so that they embrace their femininity and confidence wearing bright beautiful garments.
