The style mavens behind the blog Street Etiquette ,Travis Gumbs and Joshua Kissi, are setting a new standard for young, African, fashion-conscious individuals all over the world. They run a seemingly small operation out of a workspace in Brooklyn just steps away from Brooklyn Circus, the collaborative partner for much of Street Etiquette’s work. Gumbs and Kissi met at a young age and bonded over their love of fashion which at the time was different from the accepted version of “cool.” This version was the street hip-hop look that most of their classmates followed, and in turn resented Gumbs and Kissi for their more stylish, sophisticated, tailored look. This is something the two men have worked to change through Street Etiquette. Gumbs says in an interview with the New York Times that there is a certain way people look at you when you dress like that and they are showing young people how to be more stylish and smart looking. Through their fashion sense and their eyes for the right style Mr. Gumbs and Mr. Kissi are elevating the sense of awareness in the young black community and pushing the boundaries of fashion.
