ADIRÈE today announces the upcoming showcase of SAKIA LEK during its sixth annual Africa Fashion Week, (www.AfricaFashionWeek.com) under the activation New York Fashion Week: Africa on Friday, September 11, 2015.
Native Congolese, Sakia Lekoundzou launched Sakia Lek, a brand derived from Lekoundzou’s influential travels and many experiences. Lekoundzou uses her African heritage to guide her captivating designs. Lekoundzou’s aims are to directly raise awareness to original, local designs from the Congo. During Congo Fashion Week, she annually exhibits indigenous pieces to shed light on the Congo designers. All designers shown under Congo Fashion Week used all natural fabrics from the Ficus tree bark.
Sakia Lek’s design inspiration also arise from Lekoundzou’s vigorous enthusiasm for drapery and embroidery. Her most recent collection emcompasses wholly her Congolese origin. Her designs provoke customer’s traditional ideals of fashion and offers to broaden concepts through a natural, contemporary take on fabric.
