Sakia Lek Taps into Indigenous Designs for New York Fashion Week: AFRICA

ADIRÈE today announces the upcoming showcase of SAKIA LEK during its sixth annual Africa Fashion Week, (www.AfricaFashionWeek.com) under the activation New York Fashion Week: Africa on Friday, September 11, 2015.

A woman with many experiences, Congolese native designer Sakia Lekoundzou’s pieces reflect her passion for travel seen in the Sakia Lek brand. Her passion for fashion jolted her journey to move to Paris at a young age, visiting other locations such as Morocco and Miami, FL. With all her journeys, her environment became the main inspiration in all her pieces. Bringing in her roots from Congo into her pieces also was essential to Lekoundzou. The Congo fashion industry strives to promote their indigenous designs which utilizes natural resources surrounding them. Sakia Lek displays these sources while also offering consumers a story behind the culture. Lekoundzou’s designs will reach a hand out her New York consumers offering them a chance to create connections and partnerships with Africa as well as take part of the brand’s journey.
