Celebrating and promoting African Fashion, this Friday, January 4th, 2013, there will be an African Mosaique, biennial fashion and cultural gala. We are proud to announce that two of our very own designers who showcased this summer at Africa Fashion Week New York 2012, will be showcasing at the event. This event will be the first 2013 edition of the African Mosaique, biennial fashion and cultural gala, hosted by Sheraton Addis. The amazing thing about this large-scale event is that all proceeds will benefit ECF Children’s Fund (Ethiopian Children’s Fund), which is an integrated development project for adolescents and children in Aleltu, Ethiopia.
Ethiopian designer, Fikirte Addis, creates modern and luxurious clothing using the most sophisticated traditional Ethiopian fabrics known as YEFIKIR. Her previous designs from AFWNY 2012 consisted of everyday wear merging modernity, culture, and nature’s touch.Mahlet Afework, also from Ethiopia, designs are known as being hip, chic, and funky, and are made for the fashion conscience women and men. Her previous designs from the MAFI collection consisted of woven fabrics, combined with silk, satin, and chiffon, creating sassy and sexy urban street wear for both sexes. We are anticipating this Friday with enthusiasm and excitement! Along with four other established designers, Mela, MESHKI Ethiopia, Urban Roots Eco Couture, and Yohannes Sisters’ Couture, both, Fikirte Addis and Mahlet Afework will ‘bring it’ to the runway.
