An Icon For African Designers

For a long time Azzedine Alaia, Tunisian born fashion designer, has been known in the fashion world as a force to be reckoned with.  He was trained to work under the fashion houses of Christian Dior and Guy Laroche.  His clothing has been found in prestigious stores such as Barney’s New York, and has been worn by celebrities and public figures the likes of Naomi Campbell, Michelle Obama, and Rihanna.  His eye for intricate design, and statement pieces have been loved and admired by many in the fashion world.  Azzedine Alaia is surely an icon and a role model for fashion designers around the world, especially to those of African decent.
