Somalian-American twin designers, Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim, are anything but average. Their joint clothing line, Mataano revealed their island inspired Spring/Summer 2012 collection recently at New York Fashion Week. Tropical floral prints covered their garments that had touches of ’60s and ’70s flair with classic silhouettes filled the fashion show. Their inspiration came from a trip to St. Lucia they took this past Christmas and they have got many feeling that island sun. Their silk chiffon ruffles and layered skirts kept the collection sweet and feminine to appeal to women of all shapes and sizes. The twins have cited famous designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan, and Carolina Herrera as their role models and style icons. This vibrant collection is already making me excited for next spring, even though fall has barely just begun.
