South African Designers Break into US Markets

As of August 1, three South African designers (Leigh Schubert, Terrence Bray and Colleen Eitzen) will be stocked in Nordstrom’s new concept store, Treasure & Bond.  This is a great accomplishment for these designers as many often find it hard to break into the US market with the high level of competition, the fact that they are on different seasons, and all the hassle of shipping and export licensing.  They have started with small orders, probably to see how they will sell, but with these designers having already established themselves in their home countries this is a great place for them to start in the United States.  Treasure & Bond is Nordstrom’s first effort in nice retailing.  The store is set to open at a location in SoHo later this summer.
