The Fabulous Life of an 'Ankaranista'

Designer Bola Obileye only discovered her true affinity for fashion design when she moved back to Nigeria in 2001 after living in the United Kingdom for over seventeen years.  She had previously worked as a fashion blogger, stylist, writer, and publisher, but had never actually tried her hand at the design end of the business until now.  Her ankara and leather collection is truly amazing.  You can definitely see the African inspiration in her designs, but they are not overpowering or obnoxious.  It is just enough to get the point across in a beautifully artistic way.  When asked about her inspiration for the line called “The Ankaranista” (which I could not love the name more) she said, “God is my number one inspiration, he opens my eyes to the beauty of everything in life..from birds to people to shapes and colors..inspiration comes from all sources..but first from God!”
