A New Shade of Africa

For many African models it is hard enough making it in an industry that is predominantly Caucasian, but for Diandra Forrest had something extra to work with.  For those that do not already know, Diandra Forrest is a fashion model, who happens to be Albino as well.  She was discovered by chance, walking down the streets of New York City, the city she calls home.  Ever since her discovery and being the first model with Albinism to be signed to a major modeling agency in the United States(Elite Models), she has been pushing boundaries and challenging the concept of what it means to be beautiful.  Growing up with Albinism was never an easy task, getting teased by other children, but Diandra learned to make a career out of what she was once made fun of for and has made people see that people with Albinism are beautiful too.  There are a few other African models with Albinism, such as Shaun Ross, who are just now claiming their own spot in the vicious world of fashion.  These models are showing us amazing things and making us realize we need to broaden our horizons to see the natural beauty all around us.
