Asikere Afana Ties Cultural Heritage in Designs and Shares them Globally

ADIRÈE today announces the upcoming showcase of ASIKERE AFANA during its sixth annual Africa Fashion Week, (www.AfricaFashionWeek.com) under the activation New York Fashion Week: Africa on Friday, September 11, 2015.

ASIKERE AFANA (Pronounced: Ah- See-Che-Rey Ah-Fawna), is a brand founded by Ashley Alexis McFarlane. Her inspirations in her Jamaican / Ghanaian roots are seen from production to the final garment.

McFarlane’s main goal with her brand is to deliver authenticity throughout her designs while giving back to the West African community. Her pieces are manufactured by locals in Ghana who become a part of the journey of every piece.

The use of ankara wax print fabric becomes not only a unique outfit, but a piece of a story for consumers to learn more about. Asikere Afana’s arrival to the New York stage creates a gateway for future partnerships and connections in the global fashion industry to evolve, and in turn the elevate of both industries.
