Fun, Feminine, and Full of Color in Funlayo Deri’s New Collection

Funlayo Deri retailed on Adiree.com,  wowed audiences at Africa Fashion Week: New York (AFWNY) 2011 with her elegant womanly designs that said ‘here I am’ in a big way.

Her fashion celebrates the female form while emphasizing curves and gives just a hint of skin, but never too much.

Team Adiree were (and still are) excited that she revealed her Spring/Summer 2012 line.  This line was particularly special because it added color to her repertoire and channeled more of softer but still sophisticated side of the designer.

Funlayo, who is originally from Nigeria, but resides in Bulgaria, received her inspiration from contemporary architectural structures. She combined textured designs with soft silhouettes- a  nod to modern women and the various dimensions/ roles they play.

Her use of silks, taffeta, organza, and embroidered lace embody old Hollywood and femininity. This even includes the flowing floor-length gowns, high-waisted shorts, structured jackets, and trousers.
