Origin of Africa presents, Hub of Africa, dedicated to emphasis on sustainability and eco-fashion. From April 24-27th different exhibitors will showcase their eco-friendly works, including: manufacturers, fabric suppliers, buyers and designers. Hub of Africa will take place in the newly-built African Union Conference Center, where they will also bring industry leaders from across Africa to participate in the event that has the potential to precipitate a great movement in Africa’s global market. In addition, three awards will be given out at the show: first, the chance to be a part of Africa Fashion Week New York. Second, an opportunity in Paris’ Ethical Fashion Week and lastly, the Retailer award where the endowed designer will have his/her designs produced and sold in a large department store within 90 days of the show. Origin of Africa is initiating a whole new era of African fashion, one that will not only be a dominant figure in the fashion industry, but will also be a staple in Africa’s economy.
“The show sends a powerful message to the rest of the world that the African fashion industry is open and ready for business – and that it can do this business differently – sustainably.”
