Mahlet Afework : Ethiopian Luxury Designer Showcases at Africa Fashion Week in New York

New York, NY-June 2012- Mahlet Afework of Mafi will showcase Thursday, July 12th at Africa Fashion Week in New York (AFWNY) . AFWNY, a luxury multi-day event produced by Adirée, will take place at the Broad Street Ballroom on July 12th, 13th, 14th in New York City’s financial District.

Ethiopian designer Mahlet Afework founded her line Mafi in 2007, at the age of 18 and 5 years later at Origin Africa, the young designer won herself an invite to the African Fashion Week New York. Her clothes—hip, chic, and funky, are designed for the fashion conscience women & men who seeks an edgy, trendy, and yet unique look for their wardrobe.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designers Francis Hendy, Korto Momolu, and designers like Mafi, Attolle Collection, Geraldo Fashions and others will showcase.
