Vanessa Mukasa brings a fresh, chic, and eclectic use of African textiles to Africa Fashion Week New York
New York, NY – June 2012- Vanessa Mukasa will showcase Saturday, July 14th at Africa Fashion Week in New York (AFWNY). AFWNY, a luxury multi-day event produced by Adirée, will take place at the Broad Street Ballroom on July 12–14th in New York City’s financial District.

Ugandan Designer, Princess Vanessa Mukasa from the Bonyoro Kingdom aims to raise awareness of women empowerment within Uganda and more so within her kingdom.
Mukasa’s love for color and different textures show through her designs. Metropical Deluxe, her previous collection, Mukasa was inspired by an urge to attempt altering the way Kente/wax print cotton was worn by the younger generation. Vanessa Mukasa relates chic everyday wear merging culture and modernity. No stranger to the eclectic use of African fabrics and style of the African fashion scene, the look is fresh, chic, unique, and represents a diverse view that is sure to set new trends for the younger generation.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designers Francis Hendy, Korto Momolu, and designers like Mafi, Attolle Collection, Geraldo Fashions and others will showcase.
