Luxuriously ‘Illustrating’ Diversity During New York Fashion Week

Adiree partnered with Moscow’s fashion artist extraordinaire Veronica Kemsky to illustrate five of Africa’s designers showcasing at the upcoming New York Fashion Week September 6th, 2014.

Kemsky has worked with clients all over the world including Harper’s Bazaar, Robb Report, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan.

Since the fashion industry has been under a microscope for under-representation of racially diverse models in runway shows – one of the reasons why the fifth annual Africa Fashion Week has moved its dates to coincide with New York Fashion Week – Adiat Disu, Director of Adiree  commissioned Kemsky to feature illustrations of African designer’s collection by Anaba Wisdom Chidiebube of Weize Dhurm Franklyn,  Eki Orleans, Hilda Mauya, Gavin Rajah, Igwedinma Rodney Emeka of McMeka.

Kemsky was recently commissioned to illustrate Christian Louboutin’s nail varnishes to celebrate the launch of his new beauty collection in Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, and a Tiffany & Co article in Robb Report Singapore. Her work has also been  featured at:

  • A fashion show in the Mall of Emirates, Dubai for Harper’s Bazaar World of Fashion in Oct. 2013
  • The covers of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Qatar Special Autumn/Winter 2013, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Qatar Special Spring/Summer 2014 and Marie Claire Kuwait Fashion Directory July, 2014.
  • A Fashion Illustration Exhibition master class Sept. 25- Oct. 12, 2013 for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia that took place in Moda Mall, Kingdom of Bahrain.
