Africa's Top 5 | Surfacing Models

AfricasTopFive2Last week, we highlighted top models from Africa who continue to make their mark in the global fashion industry.  Have you ever wondered who will succeed after them?  After all, history does repeat itself!  Today, we’re shining a much deserved light on the underdogs.  The models identified below all have striking looks and GREAT potential to become the top model of their generation.  Feast your eyes upon the new gals in town!

  1.       Malaan Ajang

Only signed to Darley Management in Australia, Malaan Ajang is definitely an underrated model.  This breath-taking beau is Sudanese; keeping up the movement of models from all parts of Sudan.  We absolutely love her because she is an exotic combination.  Her pillow-like lips and sharp eyes never fail to deliver powerful, yet soft images that make you look twice.  Because of her unique look, leading agencies may be scared to take her on, but we hope to see her headlining soon!

2.       Kinee Douf

Hailing from Senegal, Kinee Douf also holds a torch for her generation.  Kinee is the first Black model to cover Vogue Netherlands and is currently signed to IMG Models.  She has walked for names such as Zac Posen, Louis Vuitton, Abaete and has been featured in various editorials.  Her name has begun to roll off of people’s tongues!

3.       Akuol de Mabior

This sweet girl has danced between agencies like Elite Model Management, Ice Model Management, and DNA Model Management.  We love Akuol because her features speak for her.  If you study her shots, you would observe that very little makeup is used and that her face catches light very well.  She has that rich skin that everyone wants!  Akuol has walked for Paul Smith, Julien David, and Paco Rabanne.

4.       Flaviana Matata

Flaviana Matata is an upcoming model whose spirit is as beautiful as her face.  Flaviana started a foundation (named after herself: Flaviana Matata Foundation) that sponsors children, offers grants, and conducts empowerment programs (mainly for women and girls).  We adore this woman because she is the perfect depiction of an African Barbie.  She looks stunning in every style she steps in, whether it may be glamor or street wear!

5.       Grace Bol

Model Grace Bol has her HEAD in the game.  It’s her strongest asset – apart from her lithe physique.  This Sudanese sunflower is signed to Elite Model Management.  We love her because she is very marketable, sexy, and full of energy.
