Kanye West Releases Spring 2012 Collection

The highly anticipated women’s wear collection created by Kanye West was finally released at Paris Fashion Week this past weekend.  The Spring 2012 line titled “DW” which is rumored to be named after his late mother, Donda West, was shown to a very exclusive crowd of fashion leaders.

The collection featured plunging necklines, tight fitting cocktail dressed, metallic, tailored separates, and a few pops of bright reds and blues which set itself apart from the largely neutral color palette.  This collection is very different from many other celebrity fashion collections.  Kanye actually took his time, learned about the art behind fashion and the creation of clothing and poured his soul into his work.  According to Fashion Bomb Daily, “In addition to sitting front row for several seasons at women’s ready to wear shows (undoubtedly taking notes), he’d interned at Fendi, designed for Louis Vuitton, consulted with Central Saint Martins professor Louise Wilson, and tapped designer Louise Goldin and several CSM students to help him with his latest foray.”

The collection gave a nod to the natural beauty of a woman, and her shape.  It was a beautiful dedication to the artist’s late mother and has certainly gotten people talking.
