Not too long ago, one of the famed fashion weeks in Africa took place and displayed more than eye-catching pieces. The designers selected below displayed their fashions at Lagos Fashion & Design Week and wowed us because of their vintage eyes and out-of-the-box silhouettes. McMecka, Ejiro Amos Tarifi, Anita Quansah + Mosaique, Kiki Kamanu, and Tumisola have all created designs that we just had to talk about. Satisfy your eyes with their collections below.
1. McMeka
For centuries, the fashion industry has been one of the few where women dominate over men. Menswear has evolved tremendously, and McMeka is one of those lines that definitely deserves some credit. We love McMeka’s pieces because they are classic and tailored to perfection. Plus, who doesn’t love a sharp man?
2. Ejiro Amos Tarifi
This Lagos native graced the runway with high-end pieces on the night of her display. We love how she infused leather with a silky material that gives you a sense of luxury when wrapped around your skin.
3. Anita Quansah + Mosaique
This brand took accessories to another level when it was their time to shine. These couture designs were amplified when placed against the genius nude garment that the models wore. We love the variety in the pieces, each telling its own story.
4. Kiki Kamanu
KiKi Kamanu beautifully represented the culture of Southern Eithiopians in her new collection. One of the best pieces was a dress that was infused with silk chiffon. We adore the whole collection, as they are examples of the culture’s traditional clothing.
5. Tumisola Ladega
Tumisola Ladega was my favorite contestant for LFDW’s Young Designer of the Year award. Her choice of bold red and black colors and style contrast perfectly, giving the line its edgy look ; we love how each dress has a daring, sexy style for women of different tastes.
