New York, NY– JUNE 2012- Francis Hendy will be the opening designer on Thursday, July 12th at Africa Fashion Week New York. AFWNY, a luxury multi-day event produced by Adirée, will take place at the Broad Street Ballroom on July 12th, 13th, 14th in New York City’s financial District.
A Trinidadian by birth and a New Yorker by choice, renowned designer Francis Hendy has a vision to build a global lifestyle brand, known for style, innovation and quality. Francis started out in New York in the 1907s and was soon nicknamed “Quickly” because his clients found him worked so quickly to produce these amazing garments, and was so far ahead of current trends. His company, now called Francis Hendy Inc, and base in New York’s Fashion District, consists of a costume design and custom fashion division called Hendy, a designer sportswear label, FCQ Sport, and the high-end line, Francis Hendy NY. Today, Francis is positioned as a trendsetter and a highly original menswear designer and has custom-designed for many celebrities—big names like Missy Elliot, Britney Spears, Beyonce, etc. His designs have always been called exquisite, modern, and sexy, with widespread appeal.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designers Francis Hendy, Korto Momolu, and designers like Mafi, Attolle Collection, Geraldo Fashions and others will showcase.
