The man behind the “A” LOOK is Oheneba Yaw Boamah; a creative person who is all about design, fashion and film.
When I conversed with him, he told me how his journey began.
“It started as being a helping hand to my auntie, who’s a fashion designer. I later studied Industrial Arts and majored in Fashion and Textiles at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Also, while attending the university, I developed ties with Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL). Soon, I began to work for Tex-styles Ghana Limited and Ghana Textiles Manufacturing Company (GTMC) as a textile designer. Today, there are several African print designs that I take credit for, including some customized prints for several entities, such as or related to ceremonies, political organizations, cooperte institutions, schools, and etc.”
The “A” Look, OR the “The Abrantie Look”, can visually be defined as ‘The Look of a Gentleman’. This idea came about when Oheneba began to think of men sporting gentle, classic clothes that are mixed with a touch of African style. Oheneba just showcased his recent collection at Glitz Africa fashion week. It consists of three separate lines. ABTcasual is all about classic native wear; all of the garments of this line are accompanied by a golden crest. Man Colors consists of pants and shorts that are designed in a variety of colors; they are mostly made with cotton blends. Lastly, ABT Essentials are African accessories like bowties, pocket squares, and waist coats.
It is quite impressive to see that men are not being left out of the fashion revolution that is happening in Ghana. We love to see Abrantie.
